Established in 1989, the Gangotri National park is spread over an area of 1,553 sq kms scaling upto an altitude of 7,083 m. Its unique geographic location makes it rich in flora and fauna. Home to several endangered species like bharal or blue sheep, black bear, brown bear, Himalayan Monal, Himalayan snowcock, Himalayan thar, musk deer and snow leopard. A day between the vibrant wildlife of the national park will immerse you in a state of tranquility and peace away from the hustle-bustle of the your daily life.

To best enjoy the immaculate natural beauty of the Gangotri National Park is from April to October.
Gomukh Tapovan Trek
Unravel the wonderful and magnificent scenic beauties while you are on the Gomukh Tapovan Trek. With an aura of adventure mixed with spirituality, interact with the wildlife of the Gangotri National Park and witness the splendour of the mighty Himalayas. With the sun shining atop the spectacular white peaks of the Himalayas, it will evoke a sense of serene peace in you.
The trek to Gaumukh glacier from Gangotri is said to be one of the most memorable and it can be done in a day. But permits are required to enter the park and access is limited to 150 people per day. The permit can be obtained from the permit office above the bus stand at Gangotri, or from the District magistrate's officein Uttarkashi.If you are a professional trekker, you can also trek to the gorgeous Tapovan meadow, around 6 km from Gaumukh but please carry camping gear
Nelong Valley
Located within the Gangotri National park, explore the 'Ladakh of Uttarakhand' during your visit. Recently opened, the enchanting valley with its cold desert facade, snow-covered peaks and mesmerising rivers will reconnect you with nature.
Listen to the wonderful symphony in the morning while strolling through the lush green forests. If you are you might be able to spot rare species like the Himalayan Snowcock or the majestic snow leopard in their natural habitat.
Gangotri Temple
